Sowing Native Wildflowers
Thursday 3rd December, 7-10pm
At An Gáirdín, Portumna
With Sandro Cafolla of www.wildflowers.ie
This workshop will cover all aspects of sowing native wildflower seeds. It will be of benefit to individual homeowners, community organisations – especially Tidy Town’s committees – farmers, educators, planners and those concerned for the welfare of wildlife and habitats. “Bees benefit and birds abound”. www.wildflowers.ie
The evening will be very practical: learning soil types, matching native flowers to suit soil type, preparing the ground, how to sow the seeds and maintain the plot. Sandro will also illustrate the importance of sowing native seeds.
Native wildflower seeds will be available for purchase on the evening.
Sandro Cafolla and his staff normally do not have the time to facilitate local workshops like this one, so this one is a unique opportunity to learn from his wisdom and experience.
Sandro is the sole saver and custodian of native Irish wildflower seeds and has been doing so for decades. He has been supplying seeds to the smallest gardener, to farmers, to major conservation restoration sites, industrial estates, town/city bypasses and many other projects.
Do not miss this opportunity. Be inspired by Sandro’s commitment, his ‘wild’ enthusiasm and his practical teaching approach. See www.wildflowers.ie
The workshop costs €10
